All-on-4 Implants Vs. Traditional Implants

April 22, 2014

Dental implants are considered to be the best tooth replacement option, being able to preserve jawbone integrity and retain facial skeletal structure among other reasons. Traditional implants have also been further improved, mainly on how long a patient gets his treatment completed. Most dental clinics now offer same-day implants and removable denture implant alternatives. In this article, we will tackle another form of dental implants, the All-in-4 implant and how it compares with the traditional implants.

All-on-4 Implants vs. Traditional Implants

The All-on-4 dental implant technique utilizes only four implants per arch compared to traditional implants using anywhere from six to eight implants, or more, in each arch. The All-on-4 implants are also placed at an angle, which allows for increased contact by using the natural support of your bone. The procedure also requires no bone grafting for most patients, which is common in traditional implant procedures because the jawbone would need substantial strength to be able to support the number of implants needed. The treatment for All-on-4 dental implants is typically much shorter though the procedure is almost done the same way as traditional implants are done. Most patients are able to have the dental restorations placed on the same day as the implant surgery. This allows for faster healing. All-on-4 dental implants save time, money, and discomfort. Traditional dental implants usually require:

  • Multiple visits to the dentist
  • Six to eight, or even more implants per arch
  • Bone grafting and/or sinus augmentation
  • Extended healing time and treatment. Treatment cannot begin until bone grafting is fully healed.

All-on-4 dental implants have:

  • Lower overall cost
  • Significantly reduces healing time
  • Allow for brand new replacement teeth in as little as one day
  • Significant successful outcomes

Who is recommended to avail of the All-on-4 dental implant procedure?

It is recommended for people with failing teeth, no teeth, those currently wearing dentures, and those in need of full upper and/or lower restorations. You usually can accomplish everything in one dental visit – doesn’t it give you a whole lot to smile about?
