Are you scared of the dentist? You're not alone. Imagine if you could relax the next time you're at the dentist instead of being anxious or stressed out the entire time? What if there was a way you could not even remember the visit? Many people fear the dentist, which is why we have a variety of safe ways for you to sleep through your dental visit. You can relax with sedation dentistry during dental treatments - that's a guarantee! It is absolutely safe.
Sedation Dentistry Techniques
Nitrous oxide or "laughing gas" used to help the anxious patient in about 35% of dental offices. The use of gas sedation (nitrous oxide and oxygen) has been used in dentistry for generations; and it is the most frequently employed technique. An advantage of this technique of inhalation conscious sedation is that most people receiving it recover promptly and can leave the dental office unescorted and resume normal activities immediately.
Your dentists may prescribe a sedative drug to be taken by mouth prior to the planned treatment at home. Oral sedation dentistry is most effective in the management of milder degrees of dental anxiety.
IV Sedation is a safe and highly effective technique for management of moderate to more severe levels of dental anxiety. The patient will have no memory of some, or even all, of the dental treatment. We have covered a lot about IV sedation in detail in this post (link).

Dental Treatments can be a Positive Experience
One of our slogans here in Indianapolis Dentistry is "Calming Fears, Creating Smiles," and this is what we strive hard to do for each of our patients.
We understand how uneasy some patients may feel about their dental visits, and we can make a difference in providing a relaxing and positive experience through our dental spa amenities, friendly and qualified dental staff and a very understanding and reassuring dentist, Dr. Reese. With over 20 yrs. experience in providing intravenous sedation in his office, Dr. Reese has performed thousands of procedures under intravenous sedation that would otherwise have been avoided and led to unwanted tooth loss by fearful patients. Our entire team is dedicated to providing you with excellent, personalized care and service to make your visits as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
We strive for you to have a pain-free experience and there are two ways we accomplish that goal. The first way is through offering sedation dentistry procedures that let you sleep through and/or forget your appointment. And the second is through using advanced dental technologies such as laser and micro-dentistry that are pain-free. Read more about our pain-free procedures: laser dentistry and micro air abrasion technology.
Again, our number one goal is to provide you with gentle, quality dental care. Please feel free to call us today at 317-882-0228 to make an appointment in our Indianapolis office, just north of Greenwood, Indiana!
